    CHANGE LOG:

    Website

    - Fixed an issue with the Driver Search functionality.

    Simulation

    - Removed obsolete .dll files that could cause errors at Simulation launch.

    - Temporarily worked around an issue that people were having where the Simulation failed to launch, caused by the inability to install versions of some Microsoft support libraries that the Simulation uses. These customers were running old, unpatched versions of Windows (for example, Windows 7 without Service Pack 1). Microsoft does not support, and will not install these libraries on those out-of-date versions of Windows. While we were able to work around this problem for now, iRacing does not support such setups. We recommend keeping your Windows installation reasonably up to date.
    - - Starting with 2018 Season 1, iRacing will no longer support the Simulation on versions of Windows that Microsoft no longer supports via continuing updates. This means that the iRacing Simulation will be supported by Windows 7 with Service Pack 1, Windows 8.1, and Windows 10.
    - - - For details on these versions, please checkout these articles:
    - - - - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Windows_7
    - - - - - “Installing Service Pack 1 is required for users to receive updates and support after April 9, 2013.”
    - - - - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Windows_8
    - - - - - “Support ended on January 12, 2016; must install Windows 8.1 in order to continue receiving updates and support.”

    Dirt
    - Fixed an issue where a tire would immediately dump most of its stuck-on dirt if it came off the ground.
    - Fixed an issue where too much dust would be thrown on dirt ovals when cornering on black slick.

    Rendering
    - Softened the edges of dynamic shadow maps to reduce self-shadowing artifacts near the silhouette edge.

    Audio
    - Fixed an issue with gear shift sounds for all vehicles.

    Pit Crew
    - Right-side Lollipop Guy can now hold his lollipop again.

    New iRacing.com UI
    - A new Replays section is now available for use in the UI!
    - Your Driver's License Class, Safety Rating, and iRating in the top left of the UI will now automatically update after completing a session.
    - Dialog pop-ups should no longer get stuck behind other modal windows.
    - Users may now re-center the New iRacing.com Preview UI at any time using the same key the user has bound to this function in the iRacing Simulator.
    - Users may make the Sim default to use an Oculus Rift or Open VR device in the New iRacing.com Preview UI by setting, "AutoSelect=1" under the [Oculus Rift] or [OpenVR] sections in the "rendererDX11.ini" file.

    Time Attack
    - All Time Attack competition results using GT3 cars have been re-set due to the BoP changes introduced with this update.

    CARS:

    Audi R8 LMS GT3
    - 2017 Season 4 BoP Adjustment: -0.5% engine torque, aerodynamic characteristics have been reverted to 2017 Season 1.
    - - These aero changes move the center-of-pressure rearward and make the car less sensitive to rear wing adjustments.

    - Baseline setup has been updated.

    BMW Z4 GT3
    - 2017 Season 4 BoP Adjustment: +0.3% engine torque.

    Dirt U.M.P. Modified
    - Reduced the maximum amount of Left-Rear 'bite' the car have from over 300 pounds to 150 pounds.

    Ferrari 488 GT3
    - Baseline setup has been adjusted with less understeer, and full fuel.
    - 2017 Season 4 BoP Adjustment: +2% fuel consumption, +10 kg minimum weight, -14% aero downforce, and minor aero drag adjustment.
    - Fixed a mis-alignment with pitboard textures.
    - Fixed a typo in the ABS tooltip.

    Ford GT GT3
    - 2017 Season 4 BoP Adjustment: +10 kg minimum weight.

    Indycar Dallara circa 2011
    - Season setups have been updated.

    McLaren MP4-12C GT3
    - 2017 Season 4 BoP Adjustment: -2% engine torque, -1% fuel consumption.

    Mercedes-AMG GT3
    - 2017 Season 4 BoP Adjustment: No changes.

    NASCAR K&N Pro Chevrolet Impala
    - Season setups have been updated.

NASCAR Nationwide Chevrolet Impala circa 2011
    - Season setups have been updated.

    Super Late Model
    - Restored the iRacing-supplied setups that were mistakenly removed from the car.

    TRACKS:

    Snetterton Circuit
    - Artwork improvements including:
    - - New grass textures
    - - Increased asphalt texture resolution
    - - Additional pit road details have been added
    - - Painted track lines

    - Adjusted the level-of-detail settings on some signs and buildings to prevent them from disappearing with low graphics settings.

    Just an update.

Our Rally Cross project is still coming along nicely. It is looking like the initial launch will be two cars and three or four circuits. Not sure on the exact timing but it should be this year. Probably within about a month, we can give a better window for the release.

We also are making good progress on the much-requested feature, new license capability. For example, adding both a dirt oval and dirt road (rally cross) license including iRating & Safety Rating etc. It has taken a while as our whole system, database, license and skill structure was hard-coded for just road and oval licenses. However a good shot we will have the new licenses (dirt oval & dirt road) in our next season build.

We also are working on heat racing functionality for both official racing and hosted racing. Much more on this soon but this new functionality also has a good chance of rolling out this year. We are ideally rolling this capability out with Rally Cross racing for example. We would also set up some dirt oval and short track pavement series with this new functionality! (When the timing is right, for example at the start of a new season).

Although each series does things a little differently, heat racing generally would work very similar to the way it works in the real world and includes some nice functional flexibility. Heat racing, for those not familiar, is short races leading up to the main feature race (A-Main) or the consolation race (B-Main). In iRacing, the mini-tournament would all be part of a single session and the whole thing might last for example 45 minutes. For official racing, it would still be part of an overall series.

There also are much more really great projects in development obviously (more on those later) besides the LMP1 Cars we announced today but I thought I would update on rally cross and a couple projects that are related.

It has come to our attention that weather settings may not be consistent for all competitors using our new website in our time attack competitions. The issue was introduced when we added the replay functionality on the new site and we are working to find a solution but the fact that we cannot ensure a level playing field for all competitors in this feature means we will be turning off Time Attack until this has been fixed. We will also be turning off the replay functionality on the new site until this issue has been resolved.

As part of this process, we will be ending the existing Time Attack series and starting new competitions once the fix has been rolled out. This includes the three featured Time Attack series that have prizes associated with them. To be clear, we will be nullifying all results in the existing Time Attack series and starting them over when the fix has been implemented.

We are sorry for the inconvenience and appreciate your patience.

    Steve
